A recent audit of a Bronx nursing home found evidence suggesting the group responsible for managing hospital administration wrongfully collected approximately $6.9 million dollars in Medicaid funding.
The audit uncovered medical evaluations submitted to Medicaid under the name of a Bronx Doctor for procedures never conducted. The group is said to have collected $8.5 million dollars from Medicare, of that only ~$2 million dollars were legitimate claims.
It’s not completely clear at this point how the Nursing home will be penalized. Many speculate that the group will be forced the pay back the millions they wrongfully collected, and could even face a 3 year Medicaid ban.
Also unclear at this point is if the false reports put nursing home patients at harm. Monitoring and documenting patient’s medical conditions is crucial in maintaining health.
