Last week Citi Bike broke it’s daily record of 61,266 rides in one day. There are currently 565 stations in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. More stations are expected to pop up throughout the city.
With this recent surge in bicycle riders taking over city streets it’s crucial that drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists abide by traffic laws and remain distraction-free.
What can drivers do to help keep cyclists safe?
For starters, drivers should not exceed the posted speed limit. Double parking, texting while driving, and running stop lights or red lights are also extremely dangerous.
What can pedestrians do to help keep cyclists safe?
Never text while walking. This is one of the most dangerous things a pedestrian can do, and one of the most common causes of pedestrian injuries. For more information on safe cycling click here.
