$650,000 Settlement : Playground in Brooklyn

The City of New York owns and maintains a playground in Brooklyn. A little girl and her family were playing in the park when a storm approached. As the family was leaving the playground, a rotted tree limb fell on the child, breaking her jaw and requiring extensive surgery. Jacoby & Meyers NY sued the City for allowing a dangerous condition to exist, and for not maintaining the trees in the park properly. The case was settled for $650,000 before trial. The case was handled by Trial Partner Linda Armatti.
