$2,575,000 Settlement : Uninsulated Pipe in Brooklyn

A company owned and was renovating a large apartment building in Brooklyn. The owner moved a family from one apartment to another while they renovate the apartment. The apartment that they assigned the family to was renovated, but they left the steam pipe in the bedroom uninsulated. While the owner, general contractor and architect were aware of the necessity to insulate the steam pipe, they did nothing about it. While the father was in the bathroom, his three year old daughter rolled off of her parent’s bed and touched the pipe, badly burning her face. During the lawsuit and before trial the case was settled for $2,575,000. The case was handled by Managing Partner Andrew Finkelstein and Trial Partner Linda Armatti.
