About Michael

Michael S. Feldman’s goal in life is simple: to make a positive difference in the lives of others. For him, that has always meant representing seriously injured people who have been victimized, neglected, or abused, and holding the responsible parties fully accountable. That purpose has guided his entire career, and it still drives him into the courtroom today.

Michael joined the firm in 1992 and has spent decades trying cases across New York. He has secured million-dollar verdicts and settlements for clients in every county of the 9th Judicial District in the Hudson Valley, on Long Island, and in all five boroughs of New York City.

That reach means that wherever a client is hurt in the state, Michael knows the courts, the juries, and how these cases move.

Michael’s Role at Jacoby & Meyers

Michael is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department and the Director of its Truck Accident Trial Group. He leads the litigation and trial of some of the firm’s most serious and complex injury cases, where the stakes are highest and opposing insurers and corporations are most determined to pay as little as possible.

Michael is, first and foremost, a trial lawyer. Insurers and defense teams know which attorneys are truly prepared to try a case before a jury, and that reputation changes how they approach a claim. Michael brings that credibility to every case he takes on, along with a demonstrated willingness to do whatever a case requires to get his client full justice.

Cases Michael Handles

Michael concentrates on the most serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, including:

  • Trucking and tractor-trailer collisions, the focus of the trial group he directs
  • Nursing home neglect and abuse, protecting some of society’s most vulnerable people
  • Construction accidents, including falls and other job-site injuries governed by New York’s Labor Law
  • Automobile and pedestrian collisions, including cases involving drunk and distracted drivers
  • Premises liability, where an owner’s failure to keep a property safe causes serious harm
  • Dram shop and defamation claims, among other complex matters

These cases require deep preparation, the right experts, and a lawyer ready to take them all the way to verdict.

What Clients Can Expect

Michael keeps clients informed by always telling them exactly what the next step in their case will be, so they’re never left wondering what’s happening or why. He encourages every client to call him at least once a month just to check in, because he wants that door to stay open.

Michael also takes a personal interest in his clients’ cases and well-being. The people he represents are often going through the hardest period of their lives, dealing with injury, loss, and uncertainty about the future.

For Michael, treating clients as people first isn’t separate from the legal work; it makes him a better advocate. When clients know their lawyer cares and always know where their case stands, the entire process becomes easier to bear.

Why Michael Does This Work

For Michael, making a positive difference doesn’t stop when a case ends. It extends to advancing the profession and training the next generation of advocates. He has lectured on trial practice, nursing home litigation, trucking litigation, and premises liability for numerous organizations, including the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and Trial School.

Michael is a past Dean of the New York State Trial Lawyers Institute, serves on the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and is Co-Chair of the association’s Nursing Home Litigation Committee.
