$28.75 Million Settlement for Paralyzed Young Motorcyclist

An 18-year-old was riding his motorcycle in Palmer, Massachusetts, when a commercial van driver cut across his lane without yielding. The crash broke vertebrae in his lower back and severed his spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. The investigation showed the van driver routinely cut that corner, and a forensic animation of the crash led the insurers to make substantial offers. The case settled for $28.75 million, two years before trial.

This result was obtained by our sister firm, Finkelstein & Partners, with Marc Diller of Diller Law serving as trial partner on the case.
