Transportation Alternatives, an organization that advocates for bike lanes, public plazas, traffic laws and design innovations on New York City streets recently launched a petition demanding protected bike baths along 43rd and Skillman avenues in Queens.
“Locals leaders have been pushing for safety upgrades on 43rd Avenue since April, when Gelasio Reyes, 32, was struck and killed by a drunk driver at the intersection of 39th Street while cycling home from work.
Another three cyclists were injured in crashes along 43rd and Skillman avenues during the first five months of 2017 alone, according to the city’s Vision Zero map.”- DNAINFO.com
Queens’ cyclists will not have any answers until later this year when the proposal is reviewed. To learn more about how you can get involved click here. If you or a loved one were involved in a bicycle accident or pedestrian knockdown contact us today.
