If it seems like the cars in your neighborhood are moving a little too fast, you’re probably right. Results of a survey conducted by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene show 60 percent of New York City drivers speed, and almost 20% of drivers admit to driving distracted.
“’Speed and driving while texting or on the phone can lead to tragic consequences, both for drivers and for others sharing our streets.” Council Member Ydanis Rodriquez said in a press release with the data. ‘The City is right to address traffic-related injuries and deaths as a public health issue.’”- The Gothamist
