If your commute involves traveling along the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway you’re well aware of the updates needed along the roadway. The city’s Transportation Department has announced the road will finally get much needed attention in the form of a 1.5 mile facelift.
The project will focus on the most heavily traveled area of the expressway between Atlantic Avenue and Sands street. The goal of the project is to improve the safety on the frequently traveled road, which currently has a high crash rate. The prevalence of car crashes is attributed to the road’s narrow lanes and lack of shoulders/ acceleration lanes, which makes merging difficult.
