On Tuesday, August 2nd a Newark building collapsed near the corner of South Eighth Street and 15th Avenue in Newark.
The incident occurred in the early evening hours as pedestrians, including small children, stood by. According to authorities a loud thud rang from the city-owned building and moments later bricks began spilling down.
The Newark Fire Department responded and treated a pedestrian who suffered minor injuries. At this time it appears no one was seriously hurt in the collapse.
Injuries due to falling debris are more typical injuries in construction sites, but as Tuesday evening’s events illustrate dangerous situations are often unpredictable.
