Nearly a week has passed since a massive crane crashed down onto the Tappan Zee Bridge. Remarkably the collapse resulted in very few injuries and no fatalities.
New York State Police, The State Labor Department, and OSHA are among the associations investigating what caused the crane to collapse. Preliminary investigations show typical risk factors associated with large-scale incidents like the crane crash, including worker inexperience and poor weather conditions, did not play a part in the Tappan Zee crane collapse.
The collapse occurred in the middle of a four-year project on the bridge, which roughly 130,000 drivers cross daily. Construction accidents can be extremely dangerous and can affect any number of pedestrians and workers. To learn more click here.
