Almost one year ago a New Jersey man made a deadly decision and got behind the wheel after using drugs and consuming alcohol. The impaired driver was reportedly distracted, reaching for a cigarette, when he rear ended a vehicle in Rockaway Township.
The impact caused the front vehicle to burst into flames. Three died in the incident, including an 21 and 24 year old engaged couple and their 1 year old daughter. Two others were injured.
The New Jersey driver responsible for the crash has been charged with three counts of aggravated manslaughter, aggravated assault and possession of a hypodermic needle.
Our thoughts are with the families of the victims. We encourage all drivers to consider the consequences before driving impaired or driving distracted.
