This past weekend the tenants of a Bronx building took to the streets to protest despicable living conditions caused by the negligence of the building’s landlord.
In an article publish in the Gothamist the tenants discussed poor conditions in which they lived; walls with holes so large rats are able to crawl through, broken and missing ceiling tiles, grand larcenies within the building, and so on. The tenants even lived without gas for over a year.
We can only hope that the tenants protest got the attention of local officials. Until the landlord of the Bronx building, and other negligent landlords throughout the city, ensure residents have a safe dwelling, thousands upon thousands of lives are at risk.
