Coney Island Hospital is under fire for a number of troubling accusations, including failure to properly follow protocol, failure to properly staff, and failure to properly train staff.
In early June a deceased Brooklyn woman’s family formerly filed a suit against the hospital, claiming the hospital misdiagnosed the victim, citing the hospital staff’s carelessness ultimately resulted in the woman’s death. It was later found the victim was suffering from bacterial meningitis, however the hospital treated the victim for an overdose.
In an unrelated publication a former Coney Island Hospital doctor released statements criticizing the hospital’s administration and questioning the safety of hospitals patients. The doctor cited several examples where the pediatrics department staff put patients in direct harm.
It is still unclear at this time what, if any, of the accusations are merited.
