On Saturday, April 2nd shortly after 6:30pm officials responded to a pedestrian knockdown in the Bronx.
The incident occurred on White Plains road. The victim, just 22 years old, was attempting to cross the street when he was struck.
He was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition. Officials are still investigating what caused the crash.
According to nyc.dot speeding and failure to yield were the most frequently cited issues involved in Bronx knockdowns. The city has an extensive list of safety upgrades intended for Bronx streets, including plans to “significantly expand exclusive pedestrian crossing time on all Bronx Priority corridors” and to install speed limit signage in “priority corridors”.
