Authorities have yet to conclusively state the cause of the 2015 Amtrak Derailment, an incident that victimized well over 200 people, however a new report released by federal officials states there weren’t any technical issues that led to the crash.
The report leaves many speculating if human error caused the deadly crash.
The incident occurred on May 28, 2015. A train heading northbound from Washington D.C. to New York was unable to navigate a sharp turn. The train exited the tracks. Eight people died and over 200 more were injured.
The National Transportation Safety Board is in the process of reviewing evidence. It has yet to be determined if the engineer of the train will face criminal charges.
