In late December a reckless driver caused a major crash on Vandervoot Avenue in Williamsburg. The driver, a 27 year old man, crashed into a tractor trailer.
While the driver walked away with only minor injuries his long time girlfriend, just 26 years old, died after sustaining severe head trauma.
Authorities later divulged the driver had a legal limit of .07 (which is considered DWAI, or ability impaired). Speed is also said to have been a factor in the crash.
As the winter months approach and driving conditions prove more challenging we remind all drivers to refrain from activities like speeding that could enhance the likelihood of causing serious personal injury to yourself or others.
