As of Monday, October 5th authorities have announced two fatalities as a result of the Brooklyn explosion that rocked a local apartment building.
Initially the tragic explosion was believed to have been gas explosion caused by a leaking pipe. A tenant who recently moved out with their stove in tow may have neglected to turn off the gas line. More recently authorities stated that the gas lines did appear to have been turned off. Authorities are still actively investigating.
This is the third fatal gas explosion in the city in the past year.
