7 Train Service Halted after Crane Spills Building Materials from Above

According to the FDNY, at approximately 1:00pm on Saturday, July 25th a crane accidentally dropped building materials on eastbound train tracks between Main Street and Willets Point.
Remarkably there were no injuries associated with the spill. NYPD classified the damage to the tracks as “significant.”
Officials have yet to release details regarding how the incident occurred. OSHA has very strict guidelines in regards to how to properly use construction equipment to minimize the likelihood that debris will fall, yet pedestrians are still injured, sometimes fatally, by falling debris far too often.
