A Brooklyn landlord has been arrested after harassing rent-regulated tenants. Tenants accuse the landlord of unlawful construction, demolition, and turning off the heat.
The landlord has been charged with: unlawfully evicting tenants from rent-regulated apartments, endangering the welfare of a child, and filing false documents. The engineer that the landlord hired has also been charged with filing a false document.
According to Mayor Bill De Blasio and State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman, their joint task force will be targeting other landlords who may have committed similar crimes. “Too many times they’ve gotten away with abusive actions towards tenants,” said De Blasio.
