Dylan Williams, 8, died after being struck on the head by a baseball at his youth all-star game practice in Union City, Indianapolis.
Dylan went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to Riley Hospital for Children where doctors struggled to save his life. He was pronounced brain dead after his brain was deprived of oxygen for 40 minutes.
An autopsy showed that Dylan had died from ‘complications of blunt force trauma to the right side of his head and neck’.

Youth baseball is considered to be a safe sport but a USA Baseball study of players from children to young adults found 39 deaths among 82.6 million participants between 1989 and 2006.
