Defective Kerosene Heaters
Kerosene heaters are popular among homeowners as a primary heat source or as space heating. A defective kerosene heater can carry the risk of fire when it ignites flammable materials; improperly vented heaters can also run the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has established extensive guidelines that heater manufacturers must follow in design and manufacture. These include installing functional shut-off switches, safety devices to prevent the heaters from tipping over, proper ventilation mechanisms, among other safety features.
